2. About the podcast

Did You Hear What Happened at Work is a podcast about workplace stories, workplace conduct, employment issues and the kinds of things that can happen at work.

The podcast is intended for general information, commentary, discussion and entertainment.

The workplaces, employers, employees, characters, incidents and issues discussed on the podcast may be inspired by real-life events, but they are changed, dramatised, fictionalised, exaggerated, condensed, combined and/or anonymised so that no real person, workplace or business is intended to be identified.

Any resemblance to any actual person, workplace, employer, employee, business or event is coincidental.

3. No legal advice

Nothing on our website, podcast, social media, promotional material, content, written content or related platforms is legal advice and should never be considered legal advice.

The content is general in nature only. It does not take into account your personal circumstances, workplace, employment status, legal rights, deadlines, evidence, documents, location, jurisdiction or objectives.

You should not rely on the podcast, website or any related content as a substitute for legal advice.

If you need advice about your own circumstances, you should obtain advice from an appropriately qualified lawyer.

No solicitor-client, barrister-client, adviser-client or other professional relationship is created by:

  • listening to or viewing the podcast;
  • reading website content;

  • contacting us;
  • receiving a response from us;
  • engaging with us on social media; or
  • using any free content, resource or commentary.

4. Story submissions

By submitting material, you represent and warrant that:

  • the material is your own original material or you have the right to provide it to us;
  • you are not breaching any legal obligation, confidentiality obligation, employment obligation, court order, settlement agreement, deed, non-disclosure agreement or other restriction by submitting it;
  • the material is not false, misleading, defamatory, threatening, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, unlawful or otherwise inappropriate;
  • the material does not unlawfully identify or expose any person, employer, workplace or business;
  • the material does not infringe any intellectual property rights or privacy rights of another person; and
  • you accept responsibility for the material you submit.

You must not submit confidential information, legally privileged information, sensitive personal information, court-restricted material or information about another person unless you have the lawful right to do so.

5. How we may use submitted material

By submitting material to us, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, transferable and sublicensable licence to use, reproduce, edit, adapt, anonymise, fictionalise, dramatise, publish, communicate, perform, promote and otherwise exploit that material in connection with the podcast, website, social media, marketing, promotional material and related content.

  • we may choose not to use a submission for any reason;
  • we do not owe you payment, credit, approval rights or royalties for any submission; and
  • once submitted, you may not be able to require us to remove content that has already been produced, recorded, published, distributed or promoted.

6. Anonymity and identification

You must not assume that submitting a story will result in any particular person, workplace, employer, employee or business being named or identified.

We do not publish content for the purpose of identifying, exposing, targeting, harassing or defaming any individual, workplace or business.

We reserve the right to remove, reject or edit any material that, in our view, creates a risk of identification, defamation, breach of confidence, privacy breach, legal prejudice or other harm.
